The pharmaceutical approach “Better living through chemistry” has not cured diabetes. Instead, diabetes has increased dramatically over the years. This “culture of death” approach looks at the patient as an economic resource to be used to enrich its bottom line. The patient begins a slow descent into death contributing economically to the pharmaceutical industry while alive. This robs the soul of its connection to life.
Dr. Gabriel Cousens offers a way to “live better by living better.” This “culture of life” outlook offers a cure for type 2 diabetes and treatment for type 1 diabetes.
Source: Gabriel Cousens Stevia is the only sweetener we recommend. Fifteen times sweeter than sugar, with no calories and a glycemic index of 0, the powdered leaf of Stevia rebaudiana has recently become highly sought after as a supersweet, low-calorie addition to a low-glycemic diet. It gives a sweet taste, and does not raise the blood sugar as all the other natural sweeteners do. Unlike nutrient-empty synthetic sugar substitutes, stevia is loaded with vitamins and minerals, including magnesium, niacin, riboflavin, zinc, chromium, and selenium.
Stevia is also one of the oldest, safest, and most highly esteemed South American herbs known, with a centuries-long history of safe use. By 1921, stevia was being hailed by American trade commissioner George Brady as a “new sugar plant with great commercial possibilities.” He was so convinced that it made “an ideal and safe sugar for diabetics” that he presented it to the United States Department of Agriculture. Several modern clinical studies suggest that stevia may have the ability to lower and balance blood sugar levels, support the pancreas and digestive system, protect the liver, and combat infectious microorganisms.
NOTE from Jan: Look for the green stevia which is sold in bulk in Papaya's and is simply the dried, powdered leaf. Stevia is also available in white form in packets like sugar but how did the green plant turn white? Stevia is VERY sweet. Put a small amount on your finger and taste. When adding to recipes or to drinks, start with a 1/4 teaspoon and add more until you are satisfied. This would be a valuable plant to add to your garden.

HIMALAYAN CRYSTAL SALT contains all the natural minerals and trace elements that are found in the human body. This is a living food that re-mineralizes the body with 84 minerals and trace elements, replenishes electrolytes and balances the body's pH. Avoid "table" salt that is sold in the supermarket which is really a by product of industry—sodium chloride with additives. (more info at himalayanlivingsalt.com)
HEMP SEED OIL has been dubbed "Nature's most perfectly balanced oil", due to the fact that it contains the perfectly balanced 3:1 ratio of Omega 6 (linoleic/ LA) to Omega 3 (alpha-linolenic/ LNA) essential fatty acids, determined to be the optimum requirement for long-term healthy human nutrition. In addition, it also contains smaller amounts of 3 other polyunsaturated fatty acids in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), oleic acid and stearidonic acid. This EFA combination is unique among edible oil seeds. ~thanks hempusa.org for this info (read the entire article at hempusa)
HEMP PROTEIN contains all 20 known amino acids including the 9 essential amino acids (EAAs) our bodies cannot produce. Proteins are considered complete when they contain all 9 essential amino acids in a sufficient quantity and ratio to meet the body's needs. Hemp seeds contain an adequate supply of these high quality proteins (EAAs) for a well balanced diet.
Proteins serve a variety of functions in the human body such as acting as enzymes, antibodies, and the structural components of tissues, hormones and blood protein. The main function of dietary protein is to supply amino acids for the growth and maintenance of body tissue. Digestion disassembles proteins into their basic building blocks - the amino acids. ~from hempusa.org ~thanks hempusa.org for this info (read the entire article at hempusa)
HEMP SEEDS contain all the essential amino acids and essential fatty acids necessary to maintain a healthy, human life. No other single plant source has the essential amino acids in such an easily digestible form, nor has the essential fatty acids in as perfect a ratio to meet human nutritional needs. ~thanks hempusa.org for this info (hempusa.org is the only source I know of for unshelled hemp seeds)
SHELLED HEMP SEEDS are 33% protein and rich in vitamin E as well as Omega-3 and GLA. Also see hemp seeds above.
SPIRULINA (a blue-green algae) is an exceptional food and an incredible source of concentrated, non-toxic, absorbable nutrients. It is a highly beneficial substitute for protein powders. The protein in Spirulina contains all 8 essential amino acids, making it a complete protein. Spirulina also contains vitamins A, B-1, B-2, B-6, B-12, E, and K. In addition, Spirulina also provides minerals, trace minerals, cell salts, phytonutrients and enzymes, as well as an abundance of chlorophyll & other beneficial pigments.
Raw meat is 27% protein, and even soybeans are 34% protein. Spirulina is 65% complete protein, making it the world's highest known source!
Spirulina is a water-grown, 100% vegetable plankton. It is a blue-green algae that grows in fresh water lakes throughout the world.
The ancient Aztecs thrived on Spirulina from Lake Texcoco in Mexico. For the people who live around the lake in Chad, Africa, Spirulina has been a mainstay in their diet for generations. ~thanks juicefeasting.com for this info
BEE POLLEN Pollen is said to contain all the elements necessary for the sustenance of human life. The San Francisco Medical Research Foundation estimates that pollen has more than 5000 different enzymes and co-enzymes, which is more than any other food in existence. The high amount of enzymes, such as catalase, amylase, and pectin-splitting enzymes, make pollen an aid to digestion. Some research suggests that pollen is absorbed directly from the stomach into the bloodstream.
NOTE from Jan: A lot of bee pollen now available is from China and is suspected to be contaminated. If the container you are purchasing does not say where the product is from—be suspicious. High Desert Bee Pollen is a company dedicated to using only bee pollen from US sources. High Desert Bee Pollen can be ordered from Hoku's website.
Pollen is a vegetarian source of human-active B12, most of the B vitamins, vitamins A, C, D, and E, rutin, all the essential amino acids, the essential fatty acid called linoleic acid, fats, complex carbohydrates, simple sugars, RNA and DNA, steroid hormone substances, a plant hormone similar to a secretion of the human pituitary called gonadotrpin, 15% lecithin, and many other unknown factors. According to research by doctors from France, Italy, and the former USSR, pollen is the richest source of protein in nature.
Gram for gram, pollen contains an estimated 5-7 times more protein than meat, eggs, or cheese. The protein in pollen is in a predigested form and therefore easy to assimilate. Pollen is also abundant in trace minerals, such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, manganese, potassium, copper, silicon, sulphur choline, titanium, and sodium. These minerals are highly assimilable because they are bound organically from plant metabolism. ~thanks juicefeasting.com for this info
MICRO PLANT POWDER is high in silica and cleanses the body easefully, slowly and naturally. As the millions of cylinders in the powder move through the stomach and digestive tract, they attract with a negative charge the positive toxins in the body and absorb bacteria, fungi, protozoa, viruses, endotoxins, pesticide and drug residues, E-Coli, and heavy metals, molds and mildews, and mycotoxins. These are trapped inside the cylinders and passed out of the body. In addition, any larger parasites that happen to be in the stomach of the digestive tract are destroyed by the MICRO PLANT POWDER without destroying the flora in the stomach and keeping the vitamin B-12 and vitamin K balance.
As those millions of microscopic negatively charged cylinders pass through the small and large intestines, they "scrub" the walls of the intestines and colon. After only a few weeks of taking MICRO PLANT POWDER, the intestine wall is no longer coated with mucus and mold but it is clean. It simply vacuums the body of garbage that is not needed or wanted.
The Micro Plant Powder has a PH level of 8 making it an Alkaline food source which is great for the body by keeping all systems clear and balanced for health. Cancer cannot grow in an Alkaline body. Micro Plant Powder simply strengthens the body to a point of higher resistance and allowing for an improved immune system. ~thanks hempusa.org for this info (read more here) (hempusa.org is the only source I know of for micro plant powder)
KELP granules are a convenient way to get your sea veggies, and to supply your body with much needed iodine every day of your life. Kelp granules are "salty" yet low sodium, thanks to the rich complement of potassium, magnesium, and other mineral salts. Kelp granules are an especially rich source of Potassium, Iron, Iodine, Vitamin B-6, Riboflavin, and Dietary Fiber. Phytochemicals in Kelp have been shown to absorb and eliminate radioactive elements and heavy metal contaminants from our bodies. ~thanks juicefeasting.com for this info GOJI BERRIES taste like a twist between a cranberry and cherry and contain 18 different amino acids, serving as a complete source of protein. They are also high in essentials vitamins such as Vitamin B1, B6 and Vitamin E and possess up to 21 trace minerals. These miracle berries have proven to do wonders for anti-aging and the immune system.
